Curtis is the daughter Carmencita Ojales, a Filipina native to Bolinao Pangasinan, and James Ernest Curtis Smith, an Australian lawyer. Her birthplace was Yarrawonga located in Victoria, Australia. Her father was married to Ojales an Filipina woman from Bolinao in the year 1982. The youngest brother Jasmine has also become an actress. The father of the couple had a half sister called Clare died in 2007 at age just four months, due to a heart disease.
